Beyond the Skin

My work investigates stages of transformation between body and ornament. I see the act of adorning the body as an act of desire. We modify our bodies in order to enhance or alter ourselves until we reach the desired state. Our technological world shines new light on the body’s role and what it means to be human. We exist beyond our body but at the same time it is more central than ever.

I work with various techniques – collage, photography and installation. I take anatomical drawings and drawings of historical jewellery and transform them by blurring their silhouettes. I give them volume by hydraulic pressing stainless steel, the mirror finish creating distorted reflections of the body on its surface.
