My project was born after the death of my brother four years ago. I wanted to create something in his memory, a kind of walking gravestone that would be with me at all times.
The jewellery is made from orchids that do not need soil to help them grow. They have all the conditions needed to flourish – some actually succeed and thrive but some don’t make it, they wither and die. This is all part of the jewellery. The plants are woven into the metal that traces the organic structure. These are then attached to the body or to clothing as if left as evidence.
