‘What is to give light must endure burning’ – Viktor Frankl

This quote from Frankl’s Man’s Search for Meaning particularly resonates with me. I believe that tragedies and adversity transform us. Through our struggles and losses, we find purpose and meaning in life. Without them we would not be as strong, powerful or compassionate. We have to honour the negative to fully appreciate the positive. In my jewellery I see fire as the metaphor for these challenges. The wood changes through burning, just as we change by going through difficult times. Do we let these events impact us negatively or do we choose transformation or even metamorphosis?
