All the pieces in Mirrors in History are made out of mirrors, yet in none of them can you admire your own reflection. The layers create a narrow space of parallel eternity. A glimmer of light can be captured from one angle and then reflected out from another.
Layers, layers, layers… analogous to the layers of sediment that society heaps upon us. I wanted to explore them from different perspectives, see their possibilities and encourage curiosity. The written and unwritten rules and expectations of society confine us in routines but we need new ways of looking to break free from this bubble. I use mirrors as reflectors of our identity and our soul. Light is refracted through the pieces, drawing the viewer’s eye to the now unrecognizable mirrors.
