The toy box is not simply an object, it is a place where happiness is housed – a gateway to where we want to be, a protective shelter, a fortress. Through play, the real and imaginary are part of the same game.
Zappegno approaches her pieces with a child-like, creative and playful attitude. Each piece represents someone she knows, people who are child-like at heart or who were significant in her childhood. She works with materials from her environment, such as olive wood, as well as others she finds in the workshop. The intention is not to generate more things but to transform objects that already exist and give them new meaning.
