My work is influenced by research on how images are described as glimpses of reality (Chayowski, 2016). The idea that images show only fragments of reality fuelled my desire to investigate parts of images through print and drawings.
I took a selection of urban and architectural images of London and Birmingham, drawing from them to create sublimated images. The stainless steel structures are laser-welded together, then powder-coated to give a matt finish. The images are sublimated onto stainless steel sheet and heat-treated to prevent fading.
This collection aims to provoke reactions to the prints and structural forms in order to show the viewer that images are only part of what we see. Much more important is to understand and remember the feelings evoked by the surroundings.
